After a few weeks of hiatus (blame it all on the MWC craziness and Samsung’s Galaxy S7), our “Games of the Week” feature is back! Tadah! So what have you guys been up to? Seen any interesting games lately? You might have done, but then again, you might have missed some over the past few weeks. Allow us to give you five great reasons to visit the Google Play Store later – great games, of course! Here’s our top 5 for the past two weeks.
Clash Royale
This one definitely is on top our list today – Supercell once again campaigns for worldwide Android gaming domination with Clash Royale. It’s a Clash of Clans spinoff, and the new game uses characters from the older, more popular game. That said, the game is a bit of real-time strategy (RTS), but with a dash of collectible card battle in the gameplay. Having played it a couple of times now, we can surely say that the game has the potential to make it big for Supercell again. If you’ve gotten tired of Clash of Clans (which we know a lot of you have NOT), then here’s a fresh new game to try, and it might even wean you off the older game permanently.

Murdered: Soul Suspect
For this game, we will cater to the people who own the NVIDIA SHIELD – only the most powerful Android device out there to date. Given its elite status, NVIDIA carefully curates the games that it releases specifically for the robust Android TV console – to make sure the games look heck good and challenges the 256-core Maxwell GPU. Murdered: Soul Suspect is one such game – great graphics, great gameplay, innovative storytelling. The game follows the life and death of a detective who is not willing to transition to the afterlife until he puts his killer to justice. The fact is, he’s a better detective now as a ghost than as he was alive. The game is now available to stream on NVIDIA GeForce Now, and you have to have a membership with the game streaming service to play this game.
Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy
So you don’t own an NVIDIA SHIELD, but you still want a piece of that paranormal detective mystery game going on in your life. Don’t worry, we have just the thing – Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy is an Android remaster of the cult favorite Xbox game with the same title. The game controls have been tweaked for Android, and this game has all the “uncut” content from the original game. If you’re up for a few scares and some detective work, this game is for you. You need to plump up USD$9.99 for this premium game, but it should be worth it for your weekend gaming needs.

Slashy Souls
And now it’s time for some mindless hack-and-slash action with Slashy Souls. The game is a spinoff from the notoriously difficult Dark Souls series, so you get the same gothic vibe from this game. Only, you just get one monster and boss after the other, and all you need to do is just kill them all. The result is an endless side-scrolling fight through which gamers will encounter traps and enemies that can kill your character and end the game instantly. Then you start again. Simple as that, no complicated stuff. If you just want endless side-scrolling hack-and-slash, go get this one.

Stack
Our last game will be a skill game, because this list will not survive without a game that will frustrate and challenge the heck out of you. Stack is a modern, minimalist take on that simple tower stacking game you used to play on your old Nokia phones (Tower Bloxx, anyone?). The ghame builds on the same principles and gameplay – an endless survival game of stacking, challenging users to tap at the right time to stack blocks as high as possible. Stack will ask you to tap at the right time to get the blocks on top of each other. Pretty simple, right? WRONG. When players tap at the wrong time, the new block doesn’t perfectly line up with the tower underneath, and part of the tower shape is cut off. This makes stacking the next ones difficult, as the tower is narrower. The game is free to download, and free to annoy and irritate and challenge you, if you’re up for it.

BONUS
We noticed these two games at the Play Store with virtually no in-app purchases. That’s strange, and great, and happy! These games are really free to play! Check out Legacy Quest and Robocide, and tell us about it when you do so.
