It’s a dream come true for users looking for a smartphone but are on a budget: a device with more than decent specs but the pricing is that of those mid-rangers. And if you don’t mind having a brand that is not necessarily unknown but not as popular as your Samsungs and LGs, then the latest smartphone from ZTE should suit you just fine. The Axon 7 is the newest addition to their Axon flagship range.
The smartphone has a 5.5-inch 2K AMOLED display and is powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset. It boasts of a 4GB RAM and comes with either a 64GB or 128GB internal storage, but both variants will have a microSD card slot for up to 128GB of additional storage. It has a 20MP main camera which has Phase Detection Auto Focus, OIS, and an aperture size of F1.8. The front-facing camera is an 8MP one.
Another selling point of the Axon 7 is that it has a decent HiFi audio system both for recording (Sony AK4961 chipset) and for audio playback (AK4490 and Dolby Atmos). The device also has an all-metal build, has a USB Type-C connector, has an impressive 3250mAh battery and Qualcomm Quick Charging 3.0. Oh, and the 128GB variant also has a 3D touch display, like most of the other Axon phones plus a fingerprint sensor at the back.
With all these specs comparable to the top range flagship devices of other Android brands, you would expect the price to match them as well. But the ZTE Axon 7 will only cost you $449 in North America and 409 Euros (the non 3D touch though) in Europe.
